ABOUT ME

Hi! My name is Victoria Davila, and I am an Industrial Designer with a specialty in Toy Design and Product Development. I'm originally from San Luis Potosi, Mexico and I've been living in San Francisco, CA since 2009. I am a creative, passionate and methodical professional that enjoys team-work.

My experience includes taking projects from concept to market, design for manufacture, and project management. Recent work at Wonder Workshop included ideation, concept development, 3D Modeling, prototyping, user testing, quality assurance testing, graphic design, and cost analysis. During my time there, I worked closely across many teams in order to launch the Gripper Building Kit and some elements of Blaster Power for Cue; it is this inter-team work that earned me many company gratitude bars and awards, like the prestigious D.A.S.H. Award. I truly enjoy being an active member of the company culture and creating bridges between departments.

Other work I’ve done, mainly in P.L.A.Y. and WorldWise, has included character design, sketching, organic 3D modeling, color exploration, soft goods, material research, specification sheets, and patent drawings.  Experience in these companies also includes leading team members to reach deadlines, product development timelines, and new hire training.

HOBBIES AND INTERESTS

When I'm not working on the latest toy, or 3D modeling, I focus my time on a number of projects and hobbies.

One of my passions is teaching. For five years, I've had the pleasure of being a volunteer in the ArtBot booth at Maker Faire. I find it truly rewarding to inspire curiosity over sciences and art into people of all ages. The booth sells a simple robotics kit that allows children 3+ to create a robot that spins around, making art. What is special about this kit is the fact that the robot pieces are made to be modified and hacked; possibilities are endless with a little bit of imagination.

Another one of my hobbies is aerial dance and fitness. I started dancing when I was 9 years old, joined a dance company in my teens, but had to put a pause on it when I started college in San Francisco. This is when I was introduced to Aerial Yoga at the gym where I was currently a member. I loved it so much, I’ve been practicing it ever since, as well as other aerial fitness and dance classes. I am now a certified AntiGravity Yoga instructor as well as a certified Lyra (or Aerial Hoop) instructor.

To list a few other hobbies and interests: photography, illustration, jewelry making, traveling and reading.
